Static Rope Systems (SRS) Course
Our two-day Static Rope Systems (SRS) course is designed for experienced arborists looking to develop a safer, more efficient and better-informed approach to SRS climbing.
The course combines technical theory with practical, hands-on training, helping climbers understand not only how to use SRS, but how different systems, devices and anchor configurations behave in real-world arboricultural situations.
Starting with the development and principles of SRS, we explore both SRS-specific and adapted climbing systems, looking closely at equipment selection, device function, compatibility and maintenance. Climbers will develop their understanding of SRS forces and how different anchoring arrangements can influence the loads placed on the climber, equipment and tree.
The practical elements focus on applying SRS effectively within the canopy, including efficient ascent, canopy navigation, work positioning and a range of redirect options.
Rescue forms an important part of the course. Candidates will explore practical SRS rescue techniques, including considerations for rescuing climbers operating on stationary rope systems, before progressing into advanced pole rescue scenarios.
